Local Legalities

All goods imported into Bali for the use of or to be displayed during an event that are to be later re-exported require a Bank Guarantee Paid document prior to release. This is approximately 150% of the invoiced value of the goods. The Bank Guarantee will be refunded once the goods have left the country (allow to 1 to 2 weeks). Expendables will be taxed as new goods on arrival at the appropriate rate for the item. The import of second-hand goods into Indonesia requires separate approval from the Department of Trade. This should be applied for prior to the good being dispatched. Therefore, most goods are taxed as new items.

Try not to mix Expendables with Goods for re-export. It makes the reclaiming of the Bank Guarantee difficult. All goods imported for re-export should be ready for inspection by customs at the time of re-export.

It is best if the transportation of goods is covered by one packing list and a separate invoice. Transportation is by sea via the port of Surabaya in East Java or by air via Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar Bali. Bali World Travel requires the packing list, the invoice and original airway bill or bill of landing in order to facilitate the imported conference materials.

These documents should be faxed first and then sent by courier. Bali World Travel requires a letter of appointment from your company appointing us as the official importers of the goods. Payment for the handling of Import/Export must be made in advance. We will provide an estimate of unseen costs, which are liable to arise from time to time.
